HOUSTON, Texas (Women's basketball) – The Grambling State University women's basketball team continues their Houston road trip as they go head-to-head against Prairie View A&M University on Monday, Jan. 16.
The Lady Tigers look to bounce back from a tough 69-61 loss to Texas Southern University on Saturday. GSU fought hard but dropped the game late in the fourth quarter with numerous fouls and turnovers.
Against TSU,
Monisha Neal and
John'ea Thompson were the high scorers with 19 points and 10 points, respectively. Thompson showed her defensive prowess and dominance in the paint as she racked up nine rebounds and two blocks. Neal proved to be the initiator of the offense with a team high four assists.
For Grambling to be successful against the Lady Panthers, the team must contend with Alexus Parker. Currently, Parker leads PVAMU averaging 16.1 points per game. Thompson will have to contain La'Sha Haynes in the paint as she leads Prairie View in rebounds averaging 8.3 boards. Tori Carter will also be a player that the Grambling guard corps will have to shut down. Carter leads the Lady Panther in assists with 4.5 per game.
