GRAMBLING, La.(Baseball) - Two midweek losses to the University of Oklahoma are in the rear-view mirror as Grambling State University (2-3) looks forward to another trip to south Louisiana competing in the Mardi Gras Tournament. The event is being hosted by Nicholls State University from Feb. 24-26.
Tray Bell and Daniel Barnett both scored runs in a 10-2 loss in game one with the Sooners. Bell, Barnett, Wesley Drain and Ace Felder earned base hits. Rafael Ramirez, III homered in game two scoring Johan Mojica as Grambling State fell 10-2.
Grambling State takes on Wagner College in the tournament opener Friday at 2:30 p.m. Wagner kicks off their season this weekend in Thibodaux. The Seahawks were (13-19) last season ending their season on a three-game skid. The Seahawks five seniors intend to give wings for the young ball club.
On Saturday, the G-Men take on the Hofstra University Pride at 10 a.m. The Pride is on the hunt for their first win of the season. Hofstra (0-4) has scored three runs in four games and allows an average 6.2 runs.
Grambling State wraps up the tournament at 11am against LIU-Brooklyn. The Black Birds (0-3) lost their season opening series to Old Dominion 13-0, 16-8, and 11-7.
