RUSTON, La. (Baseball) -- The Grambling State University Tigers were defeated by their nationally ranked crosstown foe, No. 23 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs on Tuesday night, 15-1 at J.C. Love Field in Ruston, La.
Grambling State (7-10) scored their single run in the fourth inning. Bulldogs pitcher (14-2) Cameron Linck replaced Casey Sutton (3-0) on the mound. GSU quickly took advantage of Linck. Shortstop
Wesley Drain ripped a pitch up the left side for a Tigers base hit. Third baseman
Daniel Barnett was hit by a pitch and took his base. First baseman
Tray Bell received four balls and advanced to first base.
With the base juiced and one out, Drain stole home on a Linck wild pitch giving Grambling State their first run. The Tigers finished the contest with three hits and one error. Anthony Herandez (0-1) suffered his first lost as a Tigers allowing five hits and six runs in two innings.
Jonathan Reid pitched the best of the four Tigers who stepped on the mound. Reid, in two innings faced 10 batters allowing three hits and one run. Grambling State bullpen combined for three total strikeouts.
