Tigers Drop Series to Dallas Baptist

DALLAS, Texas (Baseball) – The Grambling State University baseball team traveled to take on the Dallas Baptist University Patriots in a weekend series. The Tigers were swept by DBU, 0-3.

With the losses, Grambling has an overall record of 7-13. Dallas Baptist improves to 13-6 on the season.

Game One
In game one, the Tigers held fast and tried to remain the contest but were bested by the Patriots, 3-0.

Tanner Raiburn (1-1) suffered the loss for Grambling with 4.2 innings pitched for seven hits, two earned runs, two walks and six strike outs.

Ray Gaither (4-0) captured the win with five innings pitched for six hits, one walk, and five strike outs. Dalton Higgins picked up his second save with two innings pitched for one strike out.

Game Two
The Tigers put up a fight but were defeated by the Patriots, 7-6. The teams exchanged one run in the first inning and two runs in the fourth inning. The Tigers tried to pull away by scoring one run in the fifth inning and playing great defense to prevent DBU from scoring.

The teams would duel it out until the Patriots scored two runs in the ninth inning to tie and win the game.

Marshawn Taylor and Daniel Barnett hit a double each and went 2-of-6 at the plate. Taylor also recorded a stolen base.

Daniel Beizer (3-2) suffered the loss for GSU with 2.2 innings for three hits, two earned runs, two walks and two strike outs.

Seth Elledge (1-1) snapped up the win for DBU with 2.2 innings for three hits,  one earned run, one walk, and four strike outs.

Game Three
Grambling was defeated in game three to close the series, 15-0.

Elijah Saunders (2-2) took the loss for the Tigers with four innings pitched for four hits, four earned runs, three walks, and one strike out.

???????Jordan Martinson (3-1) picked up the win with five innings pitched for three hits, one walk, and three strike outs.

GSU will be back in action Tuesday against the University of Louisiana Monroe in Monroe, La. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
