MONROE, La. (Baseball) -- The Grambling State University baseball traveled to face the University of Louisiana Monroe on Tuesday night for a non-conference match up. The Tigers put up a fight but dropped the game, 7-1.
With the loss, GSU moves to 7-14 on the season. Now, ULM has a record of 6-15.
The Warhawks came out and had the Tigers stumped for a combined four runs in the first three innings of the game. Grambling scored their lone run in the top of the fifth inning.
Kristian Franklin crossed home plate after
Ian Bailey singled to right field, 4-1.
Louisiana Monroe sealed their win with one run in the sixth inning and two runs in the ninth inning, 7-1.
Bailey was the hitter of the night as he went 2-of-4 at the plate with one run batted in.
Christian Marquez (0-4) suffered the loss with five innings pitched for seven hits, four earned runs, one walk, and two strike outs.
Cole Hendrix (2-1) picked up the win with five innings pitched for five hits, one run, one walk, and one strike out.
The Tigers will be back in action as they travel to Houston, Texas to face Texas Southern University in a three game series from March 24-26.
