GRAMBLING, La. (Baseball) – The Grambling State University baseball team looks to bounce back after a 7-1 loss on Tuesday night to the University of Louisiana Monroe on the road. The Tigers continue on the road to Houston, Texas to face Texas Southern University in a three game weekend series. First pitch for Friday is set for 1 p.m., Saturday for 2 p.m. and Sunday for 1 p.m.
The G-Men (7-14, 3-3 SWAC) come in to the contest with a combined .216 batting average and
Marshawn Taylor is leading the pack. Currently, Taylor swings the heaviest bat for GSU with a .342 batting average. Not to be outdone,
Daniel Barnett has kept GSU crossing home plate with 13 run batted in. The fastest Tiger on the diamond is
Wesley Drain as he has recorded 10 stolen bases and is third in the conference for stolen bases.
Grambling's pitching corps has been battled tested and has the scars to prove it. The pitchers have a combined 7.17 earned run average (ERA).
Daniel Beizer has the best record as he has gone 3-2 in his nine appearances.
Tanner Raiburn's laser vision to paint the box has paid off with a team high 42 strike outs. Raiburn is second in the conference for strikeouts.
The Tigers pitching and defense must be in sync to ensure a win. Olajide Oloruntimilehin has the most runs batting in for Texas Southern and is third in the conference with 19. He also leads the conference in home runs with four and in stolen bases with 12.
In the pitching department, TSU has a 7.73 ERA and is led by Seth Oliver. Oliver has 3-1 record and is third in the conference for strike outs with 35.
