GRAMBLING, La. (Softball) – Down 2-0 in the series with Jackson State University, the Grambling State University Lady Tigers dug deep and pulled out a win on Monday afternoon. GSU defeated JSU, 8-3, to close out the weekend series.
With the win, Grambling moves to 11-21 on the season and 1-5 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. The visiting Lady Tigers drop to 9-22 and 2-4 in league play.
Tia Coleman was the biggest bat for GSU as she went 2-of-3 for two home runs and six runs batted in. Coleman hit her first home run with bases loaded to take the lead over Jackson State. The second home run was scored with
Tiffany Doss on base.
Caitlin McDowell snaps up the win for Grambling with a complete game for nine hits, two earned runs, and two strike outs.
Ashley Sain suffered the loss for JSU with one inning pitched for four hits and four earned runs.
The Lady Tigers will return to action on Friday, March 31 at 3 p.m. as the team hosts the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a three game SWAC series.
