Box Score 2 NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Grambling State baseball team dropped the final two games of this weekend's series against Alabama State at Wesley Barrow Park. The Tigers fell 4-3 on Saturday afternoon, then lost 16-4 on Sunday.
On Saturday,
Wesley Drain,
Tray Bell and
Ace Felder each tallied two hits for Grambling (15-25).
Marshawn Taylor, Drain and Felder scored the teams three runs.
Daniel Barnett went 0-for-1, but was intentionally walked three times.
Starting pitcher Isaac O'Bear went for seven innings for the Tigers, giving up four hits and two earned runs, while striking out seven.
Marlon Pruitt suffered the loss after allowing three hits and two earned runs in one inning of work.
In Sunday's game, the Tiger offense pounded out 11 hits and the defense turned four double plays, but it was no match for the high winds at Barrow Park. Alabama State (21-20) hit nine wind-assisted homeruns, five of which came in the top of the ninth inning.
Taylor went 3-for-5 with two runs, while
Kristian Franklin and
Johan Mojica each went 2-for-4 for GSU.
Grambling returns home to host Texas College on Tuesday in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
