Box Score PRAIRIE VIEW, Tex. – The Grambling State baseball tallied 12 hits and scored 10 runs in a 10-2 win over Prairie View on Saturday afternoon at Tankersley Field.
With the win, the Tigers improve to 21-27 overall and 14-9 in the SWAC. Prairie View falls to 18-32 and 11-12.
Prairie View scored first, posting a run in the bottom of the second inning. But Grambling answered in the top of the third with two runs.
Marshawn Taylor scored on
Wesley Drain's triple to right center field, then Drain scored on
Daniel Barnett's RBI groundout.
The Tigers picked up runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings to take a 5-1 lead heading into the top of the eighth. They exploded for five runs in the eighth, putting the game out of reach for the Panthers.
For GSU, Taylor was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI and Drain went 2-for-3 with three runs, two walks and an RBI.
Issac O'Bear picked up the win after a nine-hit, two-run complete game in which he
struck out six batters.
The teams conclude the three-game series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
