The Lady Tigers were able to hold that deficit until the 59th minute when Aryana Harvey's corner kick found the left of Kamari Hines, who put it past Grambling State goalkeeper
Jordan Woodward to give CSU Bakersfield a 2-0 lead.
Nelson brought the Lady Tigers to within one in the 84th minute as she scored off a free kick from 22-yards out to cut the margin to 2-1.
However, Grambling State couldn't net the equalizer in the final six minutes.
