GRAMBLING, La. | Tougaloo College committed just three errors in the final set as the Lady Bulldogs stunned the Grambling State University volleyball team, 3-2, on Thursday night at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

Tougaloo (8-6) won the five-set thriller, 11-25, 28-26, 25-22, 17-25, 15-13.

Carolyne Edwards finished with 13 kills, while Megan Besecker added 12 to pace the Lady Bulldogs attack. Alexandra Jwainat recorded a double-double of 38 assists and 21 digs. Kayla Cole paved the way defensively with 25 digs, while Taylor Kangethe chipped in with 19.

Grambling State (4-11) had three players finish in double-digit kills.

Chasity Nicks finished with a match-high 19 kills and 13 digs, while
Talicia Lang registered 16 kills and 13 digs.
Kevreion Ward chipped in with 19 kills.
Diemend Richardson and
L'Muriell Thrower added 30 and 21 assists, respectively. Richardson also poured in 17 digs for the double-double. Erineka Moolere led the way defensively with 26 digs.

Turning Point
Grambling State cruised through the opening set with a 25-11 win. The Lady Tigers and Lady Bulldogs battled in the second set with Tougaloo edging Grambling State for the 28-26 win to tie the match at 1.

The Lady Bulldogs came out of intermission and grabbed a 2-1 lead after a 25-22 victory. However, the Lady Tigers showed a lot of energy in the fourth set to pick up a 25-17 win and force their second consecutive five-set match.

In the final set, Grambling State took the first two points, but Tougaloo reeled off the next five to grab a 5-2 advantage. With the match tied at 9, the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Tigers, 6-4, down the stretch to pick up the 3-2 victory.

· Grambling State finished 66 kills, 88 digs, 63 assists, eight total team blocks and six service aces.
· Tougaloo registered 46 kills, 91 digs, 44 assists, eight total team blocks and four service aces.
· The Lady Tigers recorded a .172 hitting percentage in the match and were held to a .000 hitting percentage in the final set.
· There were 34 ties and 18 lead changes, including eight ties and five lead changes in the fifth set.

Grambling State will not get much rest as the Lady Tigers travel to Houston, Texas overnight and will open Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with the round-up, hosted by Texas Southern, on Friday. GSU will face Jackson State at 12:30 p.m. and the defending SWAC Champions, Alabama State, at 5:30 p.m. during the opening day of the round-up.
