Kailey Pena notched first-half goals as the Grambling State University women's soccer team earned its third straight shutout victory with a 2-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) win over Prairie View A&M on Friday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.

Grambling State (8-7 overall, 5-1 SWAC) entered the day in third place based on points behind Texas Southern and Howard in the race for the conference regular-season crown. The Lady Tigers will face off against Texas Southern on Sunday in a matchup of two of the top teams in the SWAC.

It didn't take long for Grambling State to break the early 0-0 tie as Holt converted a penalty kick in the eighth minute to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead.

Just four minutes later, Grambling State doubled the scoreline as
Sarah Dunbar assisted on Pena's goal to extend the margin to 2-0 in the 12th minute.

Rita Siaha made one save in the opening frame and another in the second half as Grambling State won its third consecutive game and have not conceded a goal in 300 minutes.
