BATON ROUGE, La. | Kaylee Holt missed a penalty kick in the second half, but made up for it in overtime as the Grambling State University women's soccer team bounced back with a 1-0 overtime win over rival Southern in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game on Friday night at Jaguar Park.
 
"Our team played a tremendous game tonight on every stat line, but could not find the back of the net until overtime," Grambling State head coach Justin Wagar said. "It was a sigh of relief when we scored. Our defense was solid all night and limited Southern to just four shots."
 
Grambling State (6-7 overall, 3-1 SWAC), which recovered from last Friday's loss at Howard, out-shot Southern, 33-4. Lady Jaguars goalkeeper Chioma Eriken registered a school-record 22 saves, which was the most since a 20-save game from Divinity Bradley against Southeastern Louisiana on Sept. 16, 2007.
 
Holt, who had 10 shots, including five on goal, missed a penalty kick in the second half, which would have broken the 0-0 tie. However, just 14 seconds into overtime, she received the ball on a back-heel pass from Kailey Pena and fired it past Eriken for the game-winning goal.
