PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Kailyn Gideon didn't attempt a shot for 39 minutes, but her jumper with 42 seconds remaining on Saturday lifted the Grambling State University women's basketball team to a season sweep of Prairie View A&M, 75-68, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at the William J. Nicks Building.

Grambling State (12-11 overall, 9-3 SWAC) used a 17-3 run over a 3-minute and 40-second stretch in the opening quarter and took a 23-20 advantage into the second. The Lady Tigers led by as many as 12 points in the second period and took a 39-29 lead into the break.

Grambling State pushed the margin to 13 points in the third, but Prairie View A&M used a 19-7 run to close out the period with the Lady Tigers holding a slim, 54-53 lead. Prairie View A&M (8-14, 6-5) held the Lady Tigers to without a field goal for over seven minutes in the final quarter, but Grambling State used a 15-6 run over the final five minutes to pick up its fifth straight win.

Shakyla Hill tied a career high with 26 points, on 7-of-14 shooting, with six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Jazmin Boyd added 17 points, including three 3-pointers, with two assists and one steal.
Monisha Neal led the way defensively with 10 rebounds.

Shala Dobbins paced the Lady Panthers with 21 points, four assists, three steals and a pair of boards. TalishaPresley tallied 14 points, three rebounds, two steals, one block and one assist, while La'Neique Nealey registered a double-double of 12 points and a game-high 14 boards.

Turning Point
Grambling State trailed 8-4 after a bucket by Dobbins with 6:30 left in the opener quarter, but the Lady Tigers roared back and used a 17-3 run over the next 3:40 to take a 21-11 advantage after Neal layup with remaining.

Prairie View A&M stormed back as the Lady Panthers trailed 23-20 at the end of the first quarter.

Grambling State quickly answered and used a 10-2 run over the first five minutes of the second quarter to grab a 33-22 advantage after a Hill jumper with 4:31 left. The Lady Panthers cut the margin to eight, but the Lady Tigers took a 39-29 lead into the half.

The Lady Tigers extended the lead to 47-34 after a jumper by Hill with 8:49 left in the third, but the Lady Panthers battled back and used a 19-7 run to close out the period down one, 54-53.

In the final period, Grambling State went over seven minutes without a bucket from the field, but Prairie View A&M was unable to get some distance and led 64-61 after a Mariah Campbell layup with 3:15 remaining. The Lady Tigers responded in a big way as Grambling State used a 9-2 run over the next two and a half minutes to grab a 70-66 lead after Gideon's jumper.

The Lady Panthers could not recover as Grambling State got clutch free throws down the stretch by Hill to pick up the win.

Inside The Numbers
· Grambling State shot 42.2 percent (27-of-64) from the field and 83.3 percent (15-of-18) from the free-throw line.
· Prairie View A&M was 25-of-55 (45.5 percent) shooting and 14-of-17 (82.4 percent) from the charity stripe.
· The Lady Tigers finished with 37 rebounds, with 23 coming on the defensive end.
· The Lady Panthers recorded 34 rebounds, including nine on the offensive glass.
· Grambling State scored 30 points in the paint, 26 points off turnovers, 18 bench points and 18 second-chance points.
· Prairie View A&M finished with 24 points in the paint, 13 bench points and 10 points off turnovers.
