GSU returns home to face Southern and Alcorn State

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's basketball team will play its first home game in over two months when the Lady Tigers open up a two-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) homestand against rival Southern and Alcorn State.
 
Tip-off against the Lady Jaguars on Saturday is set for 3 p.m., and tip-off on Monday against the Lady Braves begins at 5:30 p.m.
 
Grambling State (5-9 overall, 2-0 SWAC) is coming off two victories to open SWAC play. The Lady Tigers defeated Alabama State and Alabama A&M on the road as Grambling State starts 2-0 in conference play for the fourth straight season.
 
Southern (4-9, 1-1) ended a four-game losing skid on Monday with a 63-61 victory over Texas Southern. The Lady Jaguars, who fell in the SWAC championship game to Grambling State, got 13 points from Courtney Parsons and Brittany Rose in the win over TSU.
 
Alcorn State (2-12, 1-1) began SWAC play with a thrilling, 53-52, victory over Texas Southern, but fell, 82-61 to Prairie View A&M on Monday. The Lady Braves will travel Jackson State on Saturday before making the trip to Grambling State.

> Southern is averaging 56.5 points per game, while its opponents are averaging 65.7 points.
> The Lady Jaguars are shooting 37.2 percent (277-of-745) from the field and 59.6 percent (93-of-156) from the foul line.
