La. l The Grambling State University women's soccer team were defeated by Jackson State, 2-0, on Friday, but the Lady Tigers secured another overall and conference win against Southern, 4-0, on Sunday.
"I'm really proud of how our team played today, being able to bounce back from a tough loss on Friday," said head coach Justin
Wagar
.
"Offensively we scored some great goals off crosses, including two header goals. Our team did well defensively to limit Southern's shots."
Sunday's game was Senior Day as three Senior Lady Tigers-
Hanna Johnson,
Florence David and
Katie Conn were recognized.
Grambling State's (7-9-1, 4-3-0 SWAC) first goal was scored in the first period by
Jordyn King, who was assisted by
Kailey Pena. Pena assisted teammate
Michaela Danyo in the second goal, giving the Lady Tigers a 2-0 advantage over Southern (2-10-1, 1-5-1). The third goal and final goals were both recorded by
Haylee O'Leary, who was assisted by
Kennedy Moore and
Sarah Teubner respectively.
