Lady Tigers end season with victory

GRAMBLING, La. l The Grambling State University women's soccer team (9-10-1 overall, 6-4-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) ended its season with a 2-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (5-12-0, 3-7-0) on Friday at the GSU Soccer Complex.

The Lady Tigers peppered the visiting team with a total of 37 shots to their opponents' three.

"It was good to have a solid performance and get some momentum prior to the playoffs that begin next week," said head coach Justin Wagar. "Our defense was smothering and offensively, we created a ton of scoring chances."

Grambling State finished conference play with the second best offense, scoring 24 goals in 10 SWAC games with a conference leading 213 shots.The Lady Tigers' defense posted the third best, allowing only eight goals against them in 10 games, as well as least shots on goal of any team.

Inside the Numbers
> Goalkeeper Hanna Johnson played 45 minutes and recorded one save
> Goalkeeper Rachel Pugh played 45 minutes and tallied a solo save
> Trinity Taylor of Arkansas-Pine Bluff played both halves and registered 13 saves
> Grambling State finished with 37 shots, with 17 on goal
> Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished with three shots, with two on goal

Up Next
Grambling State will play in the first round of the SWAC women's soccer tournament on Thursday, Nov. 7, against Alabama A&M University at 12:30 p.m. Tournament host school is Prairie View A&M University.
