GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University softball team opened a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series on Friday afternoon with a 10-1 loss to Alcorn State at the GSU Softball Complex.
The Lady Tigers (12-10 overall, 0-4 SWAC) registered three hits in the seven-inning contest, while Alcorn State (3-14, 1-3) recorded 15 hits.
How It Happened
Alcorn State got a solo homer by Brooke Roach in the top of the second to grab a 1-0 lead and the Lady Braves extended the advantage to 6-0 with a five-run third.
Grambling State cut the deficit to 6-1 in the bottom of the third.
Tyler Robinson walked and advanced to second on a
Kenyshae Beasley sacrifice bunt.
McKenzie Johnson followed with a single through the right side to plate Robinson to put the Lady Tigers on the board.
However, the Lady Braves plated one run in the sixth and three more in the seventh for the 10-1 victory.
