GRAMBLING, La. | Tyler Robinson homered to give the Grambling State University softball team an early lead, but the Lady Tigers could not hold on in a 10-2 loss to Louisiana Tech on Tuesday night at the Lady Techsters Softball Complex.
 
How It Happened
Grambling State (16-19) struck first with a solo homer by Tyler Robinson in the top of the second inning to give the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead.
 
Louisiana Tech (35-10) quickly answered with a two-run homer by Marilyn Rizzato to give the Lady Techsters a 2-1 advantage.
 
The Lady Tigers tied the game at 2 in the fourth.
 
Tyra Triplett walked to begin the frame and advanced to second on a fly out by Rikkelle Miller. With two outs, Robinson was hit by a pitch and Triplett scored on an error.
 
The Lady Techsters grabbed the 7-2 lead with a five-run fifth and won the game with three runs in the sixth.

> Grambling State finished with two runs on two hits and left three on base
> Tyler Robinson and Tyra Triplett collected one hit each
> Ja'Lynn Bonner took the loss as she was tagged for seven runs on seven hits and walked four in five innings of work
> D'Maria Matthews pitched 0.2 innings in relief
> Louisiana Tech finished with 10 runs on eight hits, committed one error and stranded four on base
> Lindsay Edwards paced the Lady Techsters offense by going 3-for-4, with three RBIs and two runs scored
> Preslee Gallaway earned the victory in six innings of work. She gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits, fanned six and walked one.
 
Up Next
Grambling State returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on Friday and Saturday at home against Prairie View A&M. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Friday at the GSU Softball Complex. The Lady Tigers will celebrate Senior Day prior to the first pitch on Saturday.
