GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University softball team started slow on Easter Sunday and dropped the series finale to Prairie View A&M, 14-4, in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) game at the GSU Softball Complex.
How It Happened
Prairie View A&M (24-12 overall, 11-2 SWAC) loaded the bases in the first inning and plated three runs to grab a 3-0 lead.
Grambling State (16-22, 4-13) got a run back in the bottom of the frame as
McKenzie Johnson doubled to right center and scored when
Tayler Lenz-Selvera grounded out to the second baseman to cut the deficit to 3-1.
The Lady Panthers took advantage of an error in the second inning to take a 4-1 lead.
A two-run homer to left by Serena Antone in the third highlighted a five-run inning to extend the Prairie View A&M advantage to 9-1.
The Lady Tigers cut the margin to 9-2 with one run in the bottom of the third.
Andreana Reynolds ripped a one-out base hit through the right second and advanced to second on a ground out by
Antiya Randle.
Tyler Robinson reached on an error, which allowed Reynolds to score from second.
Grambling State continued to chip away at the PVAMU lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.
With one out,
Tyler Robinson walked and scored on a double by
Anaiyah Fultz.
Tyra Triplett reached on an error, which allowed Fultz to score as the Lady Tigers cut the margin to 9-4.
The Lady Panthers answered back with two runs in the sixth to push the lead to 11-4.
Prairie View A&M put the game away in the top half of the seventh with three runs to extend the advantage to 14-4.

> Ashley Higgins (4-2) earned the victory in five innings of work. She was tagged for four runs (three earned) on four hits, with six walks and three strikeouts
> Vanessa Castro pitched two innings in relief
