HOUSTON, Texas | The Grambling State University softball team opened its three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) series against Texas Southern with a pair of losses, 11-0 and 12-0, on Friday afternoon a Memorial Park.
How It Happened – Game 1
After a scoreless first inning, Texas Southern (11-21 overall, 9-0 SWAC) exploded for six runs in the second to grab a 6-0 lead.
TSU plated one run in the third inning and added four more in the fourth to take an 11-0 advantage.
Grambling State (14-17, 2-9) could not extend the game as Texas Southern took the opener, 11-0, in five innings.

D'Maria Matthews (9-8) took the loss in 2.1 innings pitched. She surrendered seven runs on seven hits, with two strikeouts and one walk.

> Texas Southern finished with 11 runs on 12 hits, committed one error and stranded three on base
> Terren Vison, Julia Bilbao, Tevanae Tate, Lauryn Banks and Marissa Padron each registered two hits
> Naomi Reyes improved to 4-5 on the season in five innings of work. She fanned six and scattered three hits
How It Happened – Game 2
In the nightcap, Texas Southern scored four runs on three hits in the bottom of the first inning to grab a quick 4-0 lead.
Neither team could plate a run in the second inning, but TSU exploded for seven runs in the third, including a grand slam homer by Paige Jackson, to extend the lead to 11-0.
Texas Southern added a run in the fourth to pushed the lead to 12-0.

> Madi Marek led the way at the plate by going 2-for-2, with two runs scored and one RBI

> Bailey Daniels worked the fifth inning in relief
