GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team is hosting its annunal 2020 Elite Summer Camp. Information pertaining to the camp can be found below.
Soccer Camp Registration is open:
Registration is open for the 2020 Elite Summer Camp. The soccer camp provides female soccer players ages 13-19 the opportunity to come and learn while showcasing your skills in front of the Grambling State University women's soccer coaching staff.
Our Elite Camp is one of the premier overnight soccer camps in the state and features campers who come from all over the country to train on Grambling's campus. Training consists of technical and tactical skill instruction and competition features short and full sided games both at the GSU Soccer field and at the famous Eddie Robinson football stadium. Discounts are available for campers who come with friends or as part of larger groups or teams.
Elite Camp dates are Thursday, July 9 through Sunday, July 12.
On Thursday, camp will run from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday sessions run from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Futsal or fun technical activities will go from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. while evening scrimmage sessions at the historic Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium will go from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Camp concludes Sunday morning after our 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. session.
Early bird registration is encouraged as slots on campus are limited for overnight stay to the first 50 campers. Early bird discount rates apply for those registered prior to May 1 and are as follows:
Single Commuter Campers who register prior to May 1 must pay $150 per camper
The rate if attending as a commuter (with a friend attending) is $140 per camper
The group rate if attending as part of a group of six or more from club or high school is $125 per camper
Overnight campers which includes lodging on campus in the dorms for Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening will have meals starting at dinner on Thursday and will conclude after breakfast on Sunday.
Campers in the dorms will have staff supervision and curfew is strictly enforced.
High school coaches that want to send their team to camp should please reach out to Coach Wagar personally for special details so he can accommodate.
Single overnight camper cost if registered by May 1 is $300 per camper.
The friend rate if attending with a friend will cost each of you is $290.
The group rate for each person in your group of six or more is $275 per camper.
After May 1 (without early bird registration), cost increases by $25.
We do offer airport pick-up and drop off for campers from the Monroe Regional Airport for $60 total. If you need a ride to and from the Monroe Regional Airport for camp (a 35-minute drive), please click the airport option when you register. That will get you to and from the airport at the start and conclusion of the camp. Pick up will be the first day of camp from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Departures need to be after 1:30 p.m. on the last day of camp to ensure enough time to get to the airport (a good time to aim for departure is somewhere between 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.) Please reach out to Grambling State University women's head coach Justin Wagar if you have questions regarding this. We've also had a few other university head coaches in attendance during the past few years of camp that helped with some instruction while recruiting some of the campers for their own programs.
In total, our camp is one of the most competitive camps in the south and will mix skill training, fundamentals of the game and competitive game situations for all campers in attendance.
