Box Score GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State Tigers fell 4-1 to Northwestern State University at Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E. Jones Park in non-conference action.
Grambling (6-10, 1-2 SWAC) took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when
Jahmoi Percival produced an sacrifice fly RBI to left field that allowed
Ian Bailey to score Grambling's only run of the game.
The Demons answered back with three runs in the next two innings, taking a 3-1 lead through the sixth inning. Northwestern State added an insurance run in the top of the sixth and managed a total of seven hits in the game while the Tigers produced four hits, but had three costly errors.
Jeremy Almaguer led the Tigers with two hits on the evening while Percival had Grambling's lone RBI.
Starting pitcher
Grant Landry (1-1) was credited with the loss as he struck out one Demon batter in four innings and gave up just four hits and two earned runs. Senior
Jason Alvarez came in relief of Landry and struck out three Northwestern State batters in two innings of work.
The Demons were led by Cameron Parikh who finished with two RBIs, one hit and one run.
