Box Score GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State Tigers dropped their second straight contest against Texas Southern by the score of 13-5 in a rubber match at Wilbert Ellis Field at R.W.E. Jones Park in Southwestern Athletic Conference play. Grambling falls to 1-2 in conference play as Texas Southern takes the weekend series.
Grambling (6-9, 1-2 SWAC) led 3-2 after the first inning off of a RBI single to left field from
Jeremy Almaguer that brought home
Warren Laster. Moments later,
Jake Lane produced a two-RBI single to right field that brought home
Jordyn Smith and Rafael Ramirez III.
Both teams went scoreless in the second inning before Texas Southern poured on eight straight runs in the next four innings, including four runs in the top of the sixth. Grambling answered back with runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings, but it wasn't enough as Texas Southern took two games on the road over Grambling.
Tigers starting pitcher
Kerry Boykins, Jr. (1-1) picked up the loss as he struck out one batter and gave up five earned runs in five innings of work. Fellow Tiger
Kaelin Woodard struck out three batters in two innings of work and gave up two earned runs for Grambling.

On offense, Almaguer led the Tigers with three hits while teammate Lane led Grambling with two RBIs.
As a team Grambling produced four errors and gave up a total of 16 hits to Texas Southern.
