Tigers 2-game SWAC win streak snapped with 59-50 loss to Prairie View

Grambling splits road trip with win at TSU and loss at PV

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | Grambling had its Southwestern Athletic Conference two-game win streak snapped with a 59-50 loss to Prairie VIew A&M at the William J. Nicks "Baby Dome."

After a back-and-forth affair, the Tigers (5-7 overall, 3-2 SWAC) trailed 29-22 in a low scoring first half. Both teams struggled from long range as Grambling shot 3-of-14 from downtown while the Panthers connected on just 2-of-14 from behind the arc.

Senior point guard Trevell Cunningham led Grambling with 12 points, five boards, three assists, two steals and one block while fellow Tiger Cameron Christon added 11 points, six boards and one assist in the loss.

Cam Mack was the high man for Prairie View as he produced 15 points for the Panthers (3-4 overall, 2-0 SWAC).

 

Inside the Numbers

> Grambling State was 18-of-49 (37 percent) from the field and 11-of-19 (58 percent) from the charity stripe

> Prairie View shot 48 percent (22-of-46) from the field and 68 percent (13-of-19) from the free-throw line

> The Tigers registered 28 rebounds, including 22 on the defensive end

> The Panthers pulled down 32 rebounds, with four coming on the offensive end

> GSU finished with 26 points in the paint, 17 points off turnovers, 12 bench points, 12 fast-break points and one second-chance point

> PV registered 15 bench points, 34 points in the paint, 12 points off turnovers, 12 fast-break points and nine second-chance points
