Coleman drops season-high 27 points in 67-53 rout over UAPB

Grambling held UAPB to just four points in the opening quarter

GRAMBLING, La. | Justice Coleman led all scorers with 27 points and The Grambling State University women's basketball team rolled past The University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff 67-53 in a Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) contest on Saturday evening in the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.

Grambling State (5-5 overall, 4-2 SWAC) closed out the first quarter leading 11-4. The Lady Tigers held UAPB in single digits once more, limiting them to just nine percent shooting (eight points) in the second quarter. GSU led 31-12 going into the break.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff (2-10,1-5) outscored Grambling State 25-20 in the third to trim the deficit, 51-37, but it wasn't enough as both teams tallied 16 points in the fourth quarter.

Justice Coleman led all scorers with 27 points, shooting 11-of-18, she also added six rebounds, one assists and one steal.

Jahnay Anderson led UAPB with 12 points, one rebound and one assists. Walker chipped in 11 points, two rebounds, seven assists and one steal, while Khadijah Brown chalked up 10 points, four rebounds and one steal in the loss.

> Grambling State was 24-of-71 (33.8  percent) shooting and 16-of-26 (61.5 percent) from the charity stripe

> Arkansas-Pine Bluff shot 35.6 percent (16-of-45) from the field and 50.0 percent (13-of-26) from the free-throw line

> The Lady Tigers registered 40 rebounds, including 20 off the defensive glass

> The Lady Lions pulled down 32 rebounds, with eight coming on the offensive end

> GSU finished with 42 points in the paint, 15 bench points, 14 fast-break points and 19 second-chance points

> UAPB registered 20 bench points, 14 points in the paint, seven fast-break points and eight second-chance points
