Aguero Lifts Grambling State to OT Victory over Jackson State

GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team earned its first victory of the season with a 1-0 overtime triumph over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) foe Jackson State, on Friday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Neither team could find the back of the net win the first 90 minutes of play, although both had big opportunities throughout the match.
- In the 50th minute, it looked like GSU (1-6-1 overall, 1-0 SWAC) had broken the scoreless tie when Kamaron Powell's free kick bounced off the crossbar to a waiting Lady Tigers, who pounded the ball into the back of the net. However, the goal was disallowed because the goal scorer was in an offsides position.
- JSU (1-10-1, 0-2-1) nearly won the game as time expired in regulation as Ayanna Pinder hit the crossbar in the 90th minute.
- In the 92nd minute, Lizbeth Aguero dashed JSU's hopes of victory with a long range golden goal from just outside the penalty area, that nipped the bottom of the crossbar on its way in.
