HUNTSVILLE, Ala. | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team wrapped up its season at the 2021 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Volleyball Championship Tournament. The Lady Tigers fell, 3-0, to Alabama State in quarterfinals Friday afternoon at Elmore Gymnasium.
Grambling State (11-17) dropped all three sets to Alabama State (17-16) 25-14, 25-22 and 25-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Tigers got off to a slow start trailing The Lady Hornets 14-8
- The Lady Tigers were only able to score six more points before ASU claimed the first set 25-14
- Grambling State took the lead in the second set, 11-5
- Alabama State came back to tie the score at 17-17 in an effort to come back
- The Lady Hornets went on a 3-0 run to seal the second set, 25-22
- Grambling State kept ASU close to start the third set tying the score at 11
- Alabama State began to run away with the match, leading the Lady Tigers, 20-16
- The Lady Hornets ended the match with a service ace to advance to the semifinals
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State completed a total of 22 kills, 19 errors and 95 total attacks

Tamaira Johnson led the offense for the Lady Tigers with six kills, two aces and one block

Gillian Jones also finished with six kills and one block

Kalee Cadwell registered 15 assists for the Lady Tigers, including five digs

Jada Taylor recorded 12 digs for the defense
- The Lady Tigers finished with 21 assists, three total blocks and 36 digs
- Alabama Sate completed the match with a total of 43 kills, 13 errors and 99 total attacks
- Jada Rhodes led the way for ASU's offense with 13 kills, five aces and six digs
- McKenzie Boland finished with 20 assists
- Emersen Belles registered 22 digs and two assists
- The Lady Hornets wrapped up with 42 assists, 49 digs and 11 total blocks
