AMES, Iowa | Danya Kingsby and
AJ Taylor posted double figures in scoring as the Grambling State University men's basketball team dropped the final game of its four-game road swing, 82-47, to Iowa State on Sunday at Hilton Coliseum.
Grambling State (0-4) led early, but could not contain Iowa State (4-0) in the road loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling State led ISU, 11-9, after an
AJ Taylor 3-pointer with 15:34 remaining in the first half
- A Taylor trey added to the lead, 15-12, with 12:16 left
- Iowa State responded on a 23-2 run over a seven-minute stretch, capped by a 3-pointerTyrese Hunter, to give the Cyclones a commanding 35-17 advantage with 5:33 remaining
- ISU continued to extend the lead, pushing the margin to 49-25 at the break
- The Cyclones proved to be too much in cruising to the non-conference victory
in the first few minutes, 11-9, as
AJ Taylor sunk a 3-point jumper to give the Tigers the lead before the first media timeout
-Cameron Christion hit a 2-point shot in the paint to keep the Tigers' lead, 13-12
-Grambling State continued to push its early advantage forward as
AJ Taylor came up with another 2-point shot extending the lead, 15-12
-Iowa State answered with a 3-point jump shot by Aljaž Kunc to tie the score at 15
-The Cyclones went on a 14-0 run within the last two minutes leading GSU 49-24 to end the first half
-GSU wasn't able to shake back from the damage as Iowa State ran away leading by 39 at the end of the game

- Grambling State shot 31.1 percent (14-of-45) from the floor and 73.9 percent (14-of-19) from the free-throw line

- The Tigers recorded 17 bench points, 10 points in the paint, eight points off 11 Iowa State turnovers and six second-chance points
- Iowa State went 29-of-63 shooting (46.0 percent) from the field and 11-of-16 (68.8 percent) from the charity stripe.
- Ajiaz Kunc paced the Cyclones with 21 points, on 7-of-7 shooting, including 5-of-5 from long range, with seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal
- Tristan Enaruna tallied 15 points and nine rebounds, with one assist, one block and one steal
- Tyrese Hunter and Tre Jackson each recorded 12 points
- Caleb Grill registered 10 points, five rebounds and four assists
- George Conditt pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds
- The Cyclones finished with 50 bench points, 30 points in the paint, 20 second-chance points, 19 points off 15 GSU turnovers and eight fastbreak points

Grambling State will have its home opener on Wednesday as the Tigers face off against Louisiana College. Tip-off is set for Noon from the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center.
