PHOENIX, Ariz. | The Grambling State University men's basketball team hit the road to open its season as the Tigers dropped a 74-53 decision to Grand Canyon on Tuesday night at GCU Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling State (0-1) started slow, trailing, 24-9, in the first half
- Prince Moss hit a couple of back-to-back free throws to boost the Tigers to double digits
- Tra'Michael Moton completed a layup at the buzzer to end the half, cutting the deficit to 40-18 at the break 
- GCU was too much for the Tigers as the Antelopes pulled away for a 74-53 victory 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State went 19-of-52 shooting from the field (36.5 percent)
- GCU shot 28-of-60 from the field (46.7 percent)
- The Tigers pulled down 30 rebounds, including 22 on the defensive side of the glass
- Grand Canyon registered 43 rebounds, with 28 coming on the defensive end 
- The Tigers also went 11-for-19 from the free-throw line
- The Antelopes sank 9-of-19 from the charity stripe
- Grambling State finished the night with four steals
- GCU came away with 11 steals

Grambling State will head to Lubbock, Texas to face off with Texas Tech on Friday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
