BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Grambling State University women's basketball team couldn't handle a second half onslaught from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, falling 77-43 at the Bartow Arena on Tuesday afternoon.

Alexus Holt and Cierra Ellington paced the Lady Tigers offensively, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the opening period, Grambling State (2-8) shot 42.9 percent from the field, connecting on 6-of-14 shots, including 2-of-4 from three-point range.
- GSU and UAB (7-4) traded buckets throughout the period, with the Lady Tigers leading by as much as five at one point. A pair a free throws by Ashanti Lavergne in the closing moments of the first quarter, gave Grambling State a 16-15 lead.
- Justice Coleman opened the scoring in the second period with back-to-back free throws to give GSU an 18-15 lead with 8:59 to go. The Blazers clawed their way back into the lead, crafting a 23-20 lead at the 6:18 mark.
- However, the Lady Tigers kept pace, heading into the break tied at 27.
- The game got away from GSU in the third quarter, as the Lady Tigers were outscored 32-6. UAB led 59-33 heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Blazers kept GSU at bay for the rest of the game, claiming the 77-43 victory.
