Box Score JACKSON, Miss. | Grambling continued its hot streak with a 3-0 victory over Jackson State at Madison Ridgeland Academy in Southwestern Athletic Conference action. With the win, the team is now
ranked a SWAC best 112th in NCAA Women's Soccer standings. The next SWAC soccer team that is ranked sits at 162nd overall.
Junior striker
Kailey Pena scored her 10th (24th min.) and 11th goals (77th min.) of the unprecedented spring soccer season to lead GSU to its third straight victory of the year.
"Winning on the road is always a challenge and I felt the girls dealt with the challenges very well," said GSU head coach
Craig Roberts. We have faced some COVID challenges of late, so to come out with a good performance when we are not at full strength is even more rewarding."
In the second half,
Macy Ramsey added a goal in the 52nd minute to extend Grambling's lead to 2-0 before Pena's final goal to close out the match.

Britt Verhees produced another clean sheet (shutout) for Grambling as she came up with a total of seven saves, including two saves on a penalty kick then a rebound shot.
"I felt
Klarysa O'Hara and
Kaydeen Jack had two solid performances in the midfield," explained Roberts. "Britt was solid in goal and did everything needed when called up, including a double save on a penalty kick. Overall, I'm pleased with the result and our consistent progress."

Grambling State will travel to Pine Bluff on April 2 as they face Arkansas-Pine Bluff in SWAC action. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. at the Pumphrey Soccer Complex.
