baseball (11-18, 8-6 SWAC) trailed the entire game while Alabama State used big first and second innings to take game two with a 12-2 win on Saturday evening at Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
The Hornets jumped on the Tigers out of the gate, building a 5-0 lead in the first two innings. Alabama State starter Jeremy Rivera (1-0) didn't allow a run until the 4th inning.
Inside The Numbers
- Grambling State University finished with two runs on six hits, committed one error, and left seven on base.
- Cameron Bufford led the Tigers by going 2-4 (two singles) and one run scored.
- Jahmoi Percival, Keylon Mack, Gerald Nervis Jr., and CJ Mervilus each had one hit.
- Jason Alvarez (2-3) started on the mound for the Tigers and lasted 5.0 innings. He gave up eight runs on eleven hits, with four walks, and two strikeouts.
- LJ Diaz pitched in relief.
- Alabama State finished with twelve runs on fifteen hits, committed two errors, and stranded seven on base.
- Trenton Jamison led the Hornets at the plate by going 3-3 with two runs scored.
