Jackson, Miss | Grambling State (10-15, 7-7 SWAC) held Jackson State (15-21, 12-6 SWAC) scoreless for three innings before falling 3-1 in the makeup series finale Wednesday afternoon at the JSU Softball Field.
Payton Shells (5-4) and Kayla Owens (7-9) battled in a pitchers' duel, allowing only eleven hits combined.
Grambling had a chance to answer in the top of the seventh as
Kaylee Nettles was hit by pitch.
Dacia Richard subbed in to pinch hit for
Fayth McQueary and singled to left field.
Sherrell Matthews also pinched hit for
Kayla Robinson, but the result was a strikeout.
Rodjahnae Dupont-Barlow hit a sac RBI. Back to the top of the lineup,
India Wells had a strong at bat, but the rally at the plate was a strikeout which secured the win for Jackson State.
"Up until the sixth inning it was a pitchers' duel," head coach Nakeya Hall said. "We waited too late to make the adjustments at the plate, but overall we played a pretty good game. We have to reset and focus on the conference series with Prairie View."

Grambling State will travel to Prairie View for a conference road series May 4-5. The Lady Tigers will play a doubleheader Tuesday and one game Wednesday. First pitch is set for Tuesday, May 4 at 1 p.m. Game two will start approximately thirty minutes after the conclusion of game one.
