Grambling State battles Troy to 1-1 Draw


GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University women's soccer earned a 1-1 draw versus Troy on Sunday afternoon the GSU Soccer Complex.
 
The Lady Tigers (0-5-1) held a 1-0 lead heading into the 89th minute, but a late goal by the Lady Trojans (3-3-1) sent to the game into extra time.
 
How It Happened
 
- Kailey Pena picked up her second goal of the season when she found the back of the net in the 36th minute
- Following a late penalty, Nia Wilson of Troy tied the match at 1-1 with a late goal in the 89th minute
- In overtime, both teams had opportunities to score, but couldn't convert.
- Pena nearly notched her second goal of the contest late in the second extra period, but her shot sailed just over the crossbar

- There were total of four yellow cards given, GSU picked up three of them.
- GSU tallied seven shots with four on goal
- Troy registered six shots with three on goal
- Troy held a 4-2 advantage on corner kicks.
- McKenzie Rastatter, Kaydeen Jack and Reece Scott played all 110 minutes for the Lady Tigers.
- Quinlan Warren finished the game in the net for GSU, playing the final 65 minutes
- There were 25 total fouls in the contest.
