PINE BLUFF, Ark. | The Grambling State University volleyball team kicked off Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play with a 3-0 loss to Arkansas Pine-Bluff on Monday evening at H.O. Clemmons Arena.
The Golden Lions (3-12 overall, 1-0 SWAC) swept the Lady Tigers 26-24, 25-11, 26-24.
How it Happened
- The Lady Tigers (3-8, 0-1) kept the Golden Lions in close reach in the first set until UAPB tried to run away with the first set victory setting the score at 22-19.
- Grambling State continued to fight back and forth with UAPB, tying the score at 22 with a kill by
Rayven McKenzie.
- The scored tied two more times before the Golden Lions walked away with a first set 26-24 victory.
- The Lady Tigers were not able to bounce back from the first set as the Golden Lions jumped ahead 19-9 in the second set.
- UAPB didn't slow down as the Lady Tigers committed two attack errors to round out the second set, 25-11.
- GSU found its first set momentum as they were able to hold UAPB close.
- Two UAPB errors and a kill by A'lexus Everett tied the score at 24.
- The Golden Lions fought the Lady Tigers off to seal them match, 26-24.

- Zykia Jones finished the match with six kills, and two aces
- Nikole Akamine registered 26 assists and ten digs
- Arkansas-Pine Bluff finished with 70 digs, 40 assists, seven block solos and five service aces
