GRAMBLING, La. | The Grambling State University football team will look to end a three-game losing streak against the defending Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) champions, Alabama A&M, on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is set for 2:05 p.m. from Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium.
Â
Grambling State (1-3 overall, 0-1 SWAC) seeks its first victory since Week 1 as the Tigers have dropped three straight overall and six consecutive conference games dating back to the 2019 season. The Tigers opened SWAC play last Saturday with a 24-10 loss to rival Prairie View A&M in the annual State Fair Classic.
Â
Alabama A&M (3-0, 1-0) enters on a nine-game winning streak, including five straight conference games. The Bulldogs stepped out of SWAC play last week and outlasted Tuskegee, 45-35.
Â
Saturday's game will be streamed live on ESPN+ as Butch Alsandor and Jorge Vargas will have the call. In addition, Grambling State will broadcast and stream the game on the Grambling State Sports Radio Network. The game can be heard in Ruston (KRUS - Hitz 96.3) and in Monroe (KNNW - 103.1 FM). The Tigers' broadcast crew of Santoria Black, Ossie Clark, Nick Harrison and T. Lay Collins will call all of the action.
Â
"It's good to play football," Grambling State head coach
Broderick Fobbs said. "It's always good to play football, but even more so when you get the chance to sleep in your own bed and play at home. We're excited about getting another chance to play football and we weren't too happy with our performance last week. When you turn the football over three times, you're not going to win football games against really good football teams.
Â
"At the end of the day, you've got to make sure you protect the football and you've got to score points. We moved the ball well at times and created some explosive plays, but we've got to put it in the endzone more. To beat really good teams, you've got to be able to score."
