GRAMBLING, La. | Six different Lady Tigers scored goals as the Grambling State University women's soccer notched an 8-0 victory over Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent Prairie View A&M on Sunday afternoon at the GSU Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Karlyn Judge got the scoring started early for GSU (5-7-1 overall, 2-1-1 SWAC) with a goal in the 9th minute, off of an assist from Imogen Fowler.
- In the 11th minute, Grambling State stretched its lead to 2-0 when Nia Harley scored off of a feed from Sydney Gober.
- After drawing a foul and being awarded a penalty kick in the 25th minute, Beatriz Kretteis netted a goal putting the Lady Tigers up 3-0, a lead the GSU held going into halftime.
- Grambling State started the second half on fire as Harley scored her second goal of the day in the 47th minute. Aria Whitney was credited with the assist.
- GSU crafted a 5-0 in the 66th minute, when Kretteis found the back of the net for her second goal of the afternoon off of a pass from Lizbeth Augero.
- Aria Whitney (75th minute) and Laila Loring (79th minute) both scored their first goals of the season, giving the Lady Tigers a commanding 7-0 lead.
- Samantha Diaz wrapped up the scoring onslaught with a goal in the 84th minute.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State put 16 of 25 shots on goal. Prairie View A&M (0-8-0, 0-4-0) was held to six shot attempts, placing one on net.
- Madison Covey-Taylor notched her fifth clean sheet of the season in goal for the Lady Tigers
