BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | The Grambling State University women's soccer team will open the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Tournament as the No. 2 seed, announced by the conference on Saturday night.
The Lady Tigers will take on No. 7 seed Alcorn State on Nov. 3 on the campus of Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.
GSU landed the second overall seed after completing the regular season 10-7-3 overall, 5-1-3 in SWAC play. Grambling State enters the tourney riding an eight-game unbeaten streak. Head-to-head, the Lady Tigers are 1-0-1 against ASU this season.
GSU defeated the Lady Braves 2-1 on Aug. 21 in a non-conference contest, and battled to a 1-1 draw on Oct. 16.
Grambling State has reached the SWAC Women's Tournament Championship Game in four of the past five seasons, including falling to Prairie View A&M last season on penalty kicks.
Each tournament match is scheduled to be carried live on the SWAC Digital Network.
