PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas | The Grambling State University women's soccer team advanced to the 2022 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Soccer Tournament Semifinals with a 1-0 overtime triumph over No. 7 seed Alcorn State on Thursday afternoon at the PVAMU Soccer Complex.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- No. 2 seed Grambling State (11-7 overall, 5-1-3 SWAC) kept the pressure on Alcorn State (5-9-4, 3-3-3) all afternoon, limiting the Lady Braves to just two shots on goal in four shot attempts.
- All-SWAC First-Team selection Beatriz Kretteis scored the game-winning goal for GSU, in extra time, after she collected a rebound off of shot by Ariyanna Buggs that careened off of ASU's goalkeeper.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State outshot Alcorn State 9-4. GSU put seven shots on goal.
- Madison Covey-Taylor played 110 minutes in goal for GSU, making two saves en route to her 10th shutout
