JACKSON, Miss. | The Grambling State University women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) opponent, Alabama A&M, on Saturday morning at the JSU Tennis Center.
DOUBLES
- GSU (0-5 overall, 0-1 SWAC) lost the doubles point after being swept in each of its doubles matches. The Lady Tigers failed to score a point versus a strong Alabama A&M (2-4, 2-1) attack on courts No. 1 and 3. On court No. 2, the duo of Claire Machisa and Itzel Hernandez held a 4-3 lead over Camila Ruiz Diaz and Ximena Ramirez, but their match went unfinished.Â
SINGLESÂ
- The Lady Tigers were swept in in singles action, falling on courts No. 1, 4 and 5.
- At No. 1, Brittney Combest lost to Jasmine Boyd 6-3, 6-3. On No. 4 Claire Machisa dropped her match 6-4, 6-0. Mawisisre Takudzwa battled Neha Share, but fell 7-5, 6-3 at No. 5.
