MONTGOMERY, Ala. | The Grambling State University softball team wrapped up play at the HBCU Celebration Tournament with a 5-4 loss to Florida A&M.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Florida A&M (2-11) opened the top of the first inning with an RBI single from Destiny Cuevas that scored Cris'Deona Beasley
-The Rattlers scored another run after Desirae Beacham singled up the middling scoring Cuevas
-Grambling State (7-5) Deija Russell doubled to left center as Ta'Mya Johnson scored the Tigers' first run in the bottom of the first
-An RBI single from Anaiyah Fultz scored Russell as the Lady Tigers tied the score at two
-FAMU took a 3-2 lead at the top of the third with an RBI single from Desirae Beacham
-India Wells scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the inning, tying the score at three
-Grambling State took the lead, 4-3, with an RBI single from Anaiyah Fultz that scored Deija Russell
-The Lady Rattlers answered with another RBI from Desirae Beacham that scored Kiauna Watson and Mia Blasingane for a 5-4 lead to get away with the victory
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
-Grambling State finished with nine hits, four runs and six errors
-Florida A&M finished with nine hits, five runs and two errors
-Dacia Richard took the loss recording one strikeout and three walks
-Brandice Boatwright earned the victory for FAMU striking out one batter
UP NEXT
The Lady Tigers will travel to Natchitoches, La to take on Northwestern State Tuesday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
