FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. | The Grambling State University baseball team suffered a 14-1 setback at No. 3 Arkansas on Tuesday evening at Baum-Walker Field.
GSU starting pitcher Roy Peguero (1-1) was saddled with the loss after working four full innings, allowing five runs, two earned, on four hits with one strikeout and two walks.
Grambling State was only able to manage two hits, while committing four errors on defense. Terry Burrell III and Shemar Page accounted for all of the offense for the Tigers, with Burrell going 1-for-3 with a leadoff single in the opening inning. Page went 1-for-3 with a RBI.
Mark Adamiak (2-0) earned the victory for Arkansas, allowing one run on two hits with six Ks and one walk in four innings of work.
HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE
- Grambling State jumped on top of Arkansas in the top of the first inning when Shemar Page laced a two-out, RBI single down the right field line, scoring Cameron Bufford from first base to go up 1-0.
- Arkansas responded in the bottom of the second inning, scoring three runs on one hit to claim a 3-1 advantage.
- The Razorbacks plated three more runs in the fifth, highlighted by a two-run homer by Michael Turner. Arkansas carried a 7-1 lead into the sixth.
- Leading 10-1 in the bottom of the eighth, Braydon Webb ended the game with a grand slam, capping the 14-1 victory.
