GRAMBLING, La . | Cameron Bufford and Trevor Hatton both homered as the Grambling State University baseball team suffered a 17-5 loss to top-ranked LSU, in seven innings, at Alex Box Stadium on Tuesday night.
The loss dropped GSU to 9-15 on the year.
Trailing 2-0 in the top of the third, Bufford blasted a three-run homer to left field, giving GSU a 3-2 lead. However, that lead was short lived, as LSU (22-3) responded with back-to-back home runs. Including a three-run shot from Cade Beloso to move back in front 6-3 in the bottom half of the inning. The Tigers led 7-3 heading in to the fourth.
LSU broke the game open in the fourth inning, tacking on eight runs to go up 15-3.
In the bottom of the seventh, Hatton smacked his team-leading seventh home run of the year.
Jacorey Boudreaux (0-2) got the start on the mound for the G-Men, surrendering seven runs on nine hits and three walks in three innings of work.
Blake Money (1-0) earned the win in relief for LSU, going two innings and allowing three runs on two hits. He also walked two and struck out two.
