MARSHALL, Texas | A second half goal by Junior midfielder
Nia Harley, secured a 1-0 non-conference victory over East Texas Baptist University on Tuesday evening.
The win improved GSU's record to 2-1-0 on the season. The contest was exhibition for ETBU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After battling to a stalemate in the first half, Grambling State broke through in the 69th minute as Harley deposited a shot in the lower right corner of the goal to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Kaylen Jankans and Sophia Lezizidis were credited with assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Grambling State outshot East Texas Baptist 17-2. GSU put nine shots on goal while ETBU placed two on frame.
- GSU committed three fouls while ETBU was whistled for one.
- Grambling State held a 10-4 advantage on corner kicks.
- GSU was called offsides 11 times.
- Madison Covey-Taylor and Aimee Benton split time in goal for GSU with Covey-Taylor handling first half duties and Benton assuming second half action. Covey-Taylor made two saves.
