GRAMBLING, La. |Grambling State University's volleyball team wrapped up their regular season matches with a weekend series in Alabama, facing off against tough opponents.
On Friday, September 15, Grambling took on Troy University at the Trojan Arena. Despite a valiant effort, the Lady Tigers faced a 3-0 defeat in a matchup where Troy demonstrated precision in kills and minimized errors. Notable scoring leaders included Zyonn Smith, Kai Williams, and Kennya Sykes, all averaging four or more kills. Ana Calderon led the team in assists with 11 out of 22 earned belonging to her. While Grambling led in blocks, challenges in maintaining a consistent rhythm of play led to 15 errors in the match.
In their final regular season game, the Lady Tigers encountered a tough match against Alabama, concluding with a 3-0 victory in favor of the opposing team. Ra'Niya Brown, Zyonn Smith, and Kai Williams showcased remarkable scoring prowess, each accumulating at least six kills. Ana Calderon and Jaida Felix both contributed significantly with 10 assists each.
Looking ahead, Grambling State's volleyball team is geared up to kick off conference play on Thursday, as they face the Tigers of Texas Southern at the H&PE Arena.
