HOUSTON, Texas | Grambling State started Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) play on a strong note, soundly defeating Texas Southern 3-0 on Friday night at Alexander Durley Field on Friday night.
Three different Tigers found the back of the net for GSU (3-4-3), as GSU put up its best offensive performance of the season.
Madison Covey-Taylor was strong in goal for Grambling State, earning a five-save shutout in 90 minutes of action.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Grambling State's Karlyn Judge the scoring started in the 33rd minute of the contest with her first goal of the season. Kaylen Jankans was credited with the assist.
- In the 49th minute, Morgan Johnson received a pass from Batriz Kretteis, sending a shot past TSU's goalkeeper, stretching GSU's lead to 2-0.
- Freshman sensation Sophia Lezizidis closed the scoring with her second goal of the year in the 79thminute to secure the 3-0 win for Grambling State.

- Texas Southern attempted 11 shots, placing five on goal
