Grambling State and Arkansas-Little Rock Settle for 1-1 Draw

GRAMBLING, La. | For the third consecutive game, the Grambling State University women's soccer had a contest end in a draw. On Sunday afternoon, the GSU and Arkansas-Little Rock battled to a 1-1 tie.
 
Alyssa Romero secured the result with her first goal of the season in the 58th minute. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the 24th minute, UALR's Amaya Arias drew a foul inside the penalty box on Adrianna Pratt, resulting in a penalty kick. Arias beat GSU goalkeeper Aimee Benton, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
  • Grambling State (2-2-3) answered back in the 58th minute when Karlyn Judge used a free kick to send a ball in front of the UALR net. Romero placed the ball in the back of the net with a beautiful header. 
  • Both teams had opportunities score down the stretch, but solid goalkeeping a defense kept the score level.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Grambling State took nine shots, placing eight on goal. 
  • Arkansas-Little Rock attempted five shots, putting four on frame.
  • UALR held a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks.
  • The Trojans also committed nine fouls versus GSU's seven.
  • Nia Harley notched a red card in the 90th minute after being tagged with second yellow of the day. In total, five yellow cards were given in the contest. GSU had three, UALR registered two. 
 
UP NEXT
The Tigers travel to College Station, Texas on Thursday, Sept. 9 to take on Texas A&M. First kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network+
