Grambling, La.| In the most anticpated matchup of the season
, Grambling's women's basketball team secured a victory over rival Southern University. With a 30-point lead in the second quarter, the Lady Tigers crawled their way into a 69-45 win.
How It Happened
- Starting the game strong Grambling went on a 5-point run in the first three minutes of the game.
- With 2:55 seconds on the clock a lay-up by Amanda Blake put GSU up 15-8
- The Lady Tigers took off in the second quarter with multiple made three pointers, with the last one being made with 27 second on the clock by DeMya Young
- Grambling outscored Southern 30-8 in the second quarter ending the first half 48-18
- Outscoring the Lady Tigers 16-11 in the third quarter the Lady Jags tried to fight back, but with an already comfortable lead Grambling entered the fourth quarter still up by 26.
- In the fourth quarter GSU held the lead and secured the win 69-45
