Box Score Grambling, La. | The Grambling State University women's volleyball team took on Prairie View A&M University in a SWAC matchup at the Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers fought hard but ultimately fell 3-0, with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-23. This loss brings Grambling's overall record to 6-11 and 3-3 in SWAC play, while Prairie View improves to 8-13 overall and 5-1 in the conference.Â
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Prairie View took an early lead in the first set, winning 25-17 as Grambling struggled to find its rhythm. In the second set, the Tigers showed resilience, staying within striking distance, but Prairie View pulled away to secure a 25-21 victory. The third set was a tightly contested battle, featuring 12 ties, but Prairie View emerged victorious 25-23, sealing the match.Â
KEY PERFORMERSÂ
• Essence Allen led Grambling with 11 kills and 13 digs, making significant contributions on both offense and defense.Â
• Lauryn Bourne added 6 kills and 14 digs, providing consistent support throughout the contest.Â
• Leticia Correa surpassed a career milestone by reaching 1,000 career assists in the previous game against Southern and followed up with 12 assists, a service ace, and 7 digs in this matchup.Â
• Ra'Niya Brown contributed 4 kills and 2 block assists, playing a pivotal role at the net.Â
• Kennya Sykes chipped in with a block assist and a key kill, helping to keep the Tigers competitive, especially during the tight moments in the final set.Â
